Assistant Estimator – Coventry Salary: up to £40,000 We are looking for an Assistant Estimator to work within the West Midlands area to cover a number of projects for our client in the core sectors of Commercial, Care, Education, Healthcare & Student Accomadation. Ideally, you will based in or around the Midlands area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the region. Job Specification: As an Assistant Estimator, you will be a part of the preconstruction team to support the business through the submission of accurate and competitive tenders to satisfy the clients requirements and to ensure the Company secures adequate new business to achieve targeted turnover and profit levels with appropriate year on year growth. * Prepare enquiry schedules with the procurement team in the selection of appropriate companies from whom quotations should be sought. * Help obtain sufficient quotations to enable valid commercial judgements at the tender finalisation meetings * Give assistance to provide all information necessary to enable the review of the conditions of contract, insurance, bonds, and warranties * Produce analytical rate build up information for Bills of Quantities in an accurate and well detailed format * Continually refine analytical cost data derived from feedback * Identify and analyse opportunities to give a commercial advantage to tenders * Identify and analyse risks and produce a risk register for each tender * Assist preparing preliminary cost estimates. * Preparation of commercial documents for tender submission * Attend tender finalisation meetings, present all relevant cost information, and complete the tender as instructed Job Requirements: About You: * Equivalent of Level 3 NVQ or Certificate Level qualification. Graduate entry point * Fully conversant with the Microsoft suite of packages, e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint * Knowledge of estimating process utilising a computerised analytical estimating system, e.g. Conquest * Experience in risk management techniques * Understanding of Conditions of Contract and Specifications * Aware of individual Health and Safety responsibilities and adheres to company health and safety policy and procedures.
