Bridging and BTL Underwriter

A leading specialist lender renowned for their expertise in bridging finance and buy-to-let (BTL) mortgages currently requires a Bridging and BTL Underwriter and a Senior BTL Underwriter to join its highly successful and vibrant team. A competitive salary is on offer, with comprehensive benefits and bonus Bridging and BTL Underwriter Job Description The overall responsibility of the role is to take ownership of allocated cases from inception through to completion. To underwrite, maintain and manage a pipeline of complex and high value cases, through to offer. To assist in the training, mentoring and be a referral point to less experienced members of the team. Bridging and Buy-To-Let Underwriter Key Accountabilities * Assessing applications that have been referred for approval by Underwriting Case Managers * Documenting rationale as to why a case should or should not be offered * Providing real time feedback to the Underwriting Case Managers on a case-by-case basis and provide daily, weekly, monthly reporting to the line manager. * Underwriting and assessing loan documentation, including valuation reports, and requesting additional information from brokers for complex and high value cases where required, highlighting any concerns * Carrying out checks on the applicants and properties and assessing their suitability for the loan applied for * Proactive chasing of outstanding information from third parties and timely updates to introducers to enable service excellence * Recommending and referring cases to the relevant mandate holders for approval * Liaising with introducers, valuers, and solicitors * Overseeing cases from inception through to offer * Update all relevant systems to maintain management information Bridging and Buy-To-Let Underwriter Skills & Competencies * Good understanding of business risk * Pass internal competency tests post induction * Very good organisational skills * Good analytical skills * Good verbal & written communication skills * Attention to detail * Time management * Competent user of Microsoft office software Bridging and Buy-To-Let Underwriter Knowledge & Qualifications * Experience within the secured lending sector * A good understanding of the underwriting process * Previous experience of managing a caseload and assessing cases for approval in a fast-paced environment * Industry relevant qualifications are beneficial but not a requirement * Experience underwriting mortgage applications, specifically within the BTL market. * CeMAP (desirable, not essential)
