Location: Reading- Birmingham – New Castle- Manchester Flexible- Hybrid (once a month)ContractTill 20th Dec, 2024Rate£400-480.00 per day (Umbrella)HoursMonday to Friday (37.5 hours a week)Job OverviewThe Fibre Upgrade Programme is one of the largest investments in UK infrastructure and is reliant on effective data driven insights and decision support. The Programme is scaling up rapidly, incorporating wider elements of network build and supporting release of the upgraded network. Within the team we have a Business Insights and Data Analytics capability providing insights, analytics and data visualisation to answer key questions and support decision making at both operational and strategic levels. An exciting opportunity has opened up in the team for a FTC BI Solution Developer – designing, building, enhancing and deploying BI solutions to answer key business challenges. Working with the Senior BI Architect, you will be responsible for implementing an effective and forward looking self-serve insights, analytics and visualisation capability. This will include best practice BI design, continuous improvement to the existing BI environment (within Power BI), robust data flows and alignment to data models, visualisation and reports, together with effective stakeholder engagement. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build and deploy BI solutions to answer key business challenges Develop data visualisation / self-serve capability using interactive dashboards, reports, Aps and best practice BI design (Power BI Service)Evolve existing Power BI environment to enhance usability across varied stakeholder groups, implementing report hierarchies and consolidating where appropriateEvolve existing Power BI environment in line with increased scope and scale Report and data validation and consistency checksData sourcing, flows, validation, cleansing and insights. Integration into and alignment with Fibre Upgrade Single Source of Truth.Supporting transition from on-prem database to Cloud (GCP) ensuring rigorous testing and migration plan for the BI environmentDrive a data led culture built on a self-serve capability from a single source of truthExperience NeededExpertise in Power BI Service with proven capability in building intuitive insights and self-serve capabilityExpertise in Power BI architecture, tools and integrationExpertise in Microsoft Excel (VBA beneficial)Advanced SQL skills including merging, managing, interrogating and extracting data Working with big datasets – transforming and manipulating data, data flows and automating proceduresExperience in Power BI Service aligned to both GCP and on-prem databases (and migration to the former)Experience developing and reporting on analysis and key metrics, presenting information effectively and clearly to stakeholdersComprehensive understanding of data management best practices including demonstrated experience with data profiling, sourcing, and cleansing routinesProven ability to hit the ground running, picking up existing self-serve visualisation environments and enhance/consolidate to enhance usability and performanceDesirableKnowledge of the Telecoms industry preferred. Wider data tools and database experience (inc Power Aps)Data Engineering and architecture experience Practical experience in use of cloud data management solutions (eg GCP)Start DateASAP
