Responsibilities for the Estimator:
- Researching Costs: Investigate the costs of materials, transportation, labor, and equipment required for projects.
- Obtaining Quotes: Secure quotes from suppliers and contractors within specified timeframes to ensure accurate estimations.
- Risk Assessment: Assess risk levels associated with each project to inform decision-making processes.
- Bid Support: Assist in the preparation of bids for new contracts and provide support to buyers in procurement activities.
- Quotation Preparation: Prepare and submit detailed quotations and cost breakdowns for proposed work.
- Cost Monitoring: Monitor project costs at different stages to ensure adherence to estimated budgets.
- Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with contractors and vendors to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- A minimum of 3 years experience in an Estimating role within main contracting.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Prior experience in estimating or related field preferred
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools
- Willingness to undergo training and development to progress to a senior role
