Our team is currently working on the design of major infrastructure schemes including High Speed Rail, Nuclear Power, Highways and Ports.We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our highly qualified team in the London head office.You will be expected to:Lead and undertake assignments in the UK and overseasAssist and support the development and maintenance of a high level of technical capability to deliver the service offerings targeted Deliver engineering solutions and report results to managers and clientsUndertake structural design and analysis using high-end analysis and design software across a broad range of structural types and using various international standardsMonitor staff time and budgets against assignment programme and agree appropriate actions where necessaryAssist in the management of the design process that may include other related design disciplinesAssist with coordinating design as part of an internal team and liaising with external associated professionals and our clientsAssist in the planning and organisation of resources, to maximise fee income and resource utilisationAdopt procedures for standardisation of work products and deliverables, and peer review to ensure consistency and excellence in service delivery of the Company’s technical work productImplement and adhere to Company procedures in the management, delivery and administration of ServicesAssist in sourcing and developing business opportunities, securing business and developing client relationships Maintain strong relationships with other disciplines within the firmAssist with the organisation and management of the technical staff, acting as a line manager, supporting staff recruitment, training, CPD and implementation of ‘Best Practice’ and proceduresSupport Graduates through the processes and requirements for completion of their ChartershipEmbrace organisational change and influence others to modify behaviour and attitudes Have an understanding and awareness of the company values and business plan and your contribution to bothTo be successful, you will have the following qualifications and be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge in some of the following areas:Degree qualified Civil Engineer; post graduate qualifications would be beneficialChartered in a relevant discipline (ICE, IStructE)Working knowledge of structural processes and design, with a particular emphasis on data interpretation, design & analysis, construction and advanced numerical modellingExperience in concrete and steel design of heavy civils, infrastructure projectsExtensive knowledge of Eurocodes, AASHTO and other national and international industry standards, contracts, methodologies, procedures and best practice.Experience of computer analysis of structures and design of structural elements in common materials i.e. steel, concrete, composite, fibre reinforced concrete and CFRP.Experience predominantly in large scale (c.£100m+), high profile infrastructure projects, for a range of UK and international Clients in various construction market sectors, including Design & Build projects.People management experience e.g. general employee welfare, carrying our appraisals, training and development, involvement in resourcing and recruitment activitiesStrong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate, listen and influence all levels of people effectivelyAbility to think and act operationally and strategically, able to respond quickly to changing circumstances whilst maintaining a clear view of overall prioritiesAbility to work well under pressure and ensure deadlines are met, whilst maintaining a high quality of work and safe working practices and proceduresWhat we offer in return:Competitive salary and benefits, including pension scheme, profit share scheme, private medical insurance, holiday purchase scheme, cycle to work scheme, group life insurance, group income protection, employee assistance programmeWork with a diverse, friendly and resourceful team on interesting and challenging projects in the UK and internationallyWe value work-life balance and we offer Hybrid working arrangementsContinuing professional development - we strive to offer opportunities for training and growth, which is at the heart of our cultureAn environment where the support and care for the wellbeing of our people is important to everyoneSports & Social Club which promotes good fellowship and healthy recreation amongst the Members and organises social events, games, sports, entertainment and other pastimesFrench lessons at beginner, intermediate and advanced levelAt Rendel, we believe in creating a work environment of mutual trust, respect, diversity and inclusion.If you would like the opportunity to work on exciting and technically challenging projects around the world in a supportive and friendly work environment, please Apply Now.
