Senior Operations Manager – Aon Underwriting ManagersAon are currently recruiting a Senior Operations Manager to join Aon Underwriting Managers. The Senior Operations Manager will be primarily responsible for the delivery of effective operational support to the AUM business, driving high quality internal standards and practices, and shaping and leading internal continuous improvement initiatives as the business continues to scale.Aon is in the business of better decisionsAt Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world.As an organization, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.Aon Underwriting ManagersAon Underwriting Managers (AUM) is the in-house MGA working on behalf of insurers to provide underwriting, claims and aggregation services to Aon’s broking divisions, supporting UK and global clients.AUM works with colleagues across the business globally to design and deliver market leading solutions across a broad range of commercial classes.The business is in an exciting growth phase with opportunity to shape new processes and technologies, to continue driving improved client outcomes and high performance teams.What the day will look likeNo two days will look the same, from leading and measuring AUMs performance across a number of key measures quarterly, to running a small team, your role will require flexibility in style and approach. You will be empowered to run and lead your workload, planning and prioritising quarterly activity and audit programmes, and which may include running small projects as well as operating as an SME, giving your expertise to larger projects.Reporting to the AUM COO, you will interact with different stakeholders across the UK business including AUM teams as well as other functions, such as Aon Business Services to drive targeted outcomes.How this opportunity is differentThis is a key role for AUMs operations team, and key liaison for AUM Executive Team and central Aon operations teams for matters relating to the AUM control environment, from colleague conduct to operational resilience.AUM is a complex business with a number of underwriting operating models, and operating in different markets – from mid-market UK retail to global large risk, London Market. This role is focused on ensuring continued growth is supported operationally, with a key focus on driving quality.Purpose of Role:Responsible for monitoring and evaluating AUMs operational health, making recommendations for adjustment and improvement to improve outcomes for clients and colleagues.As a senior member of the operations team reporting to the AUM Chief Operating Officer, you will: Lead the AUM control environment, and assess AUM across a number of measures from financial results to culture measures, communicating recommendations to COO and Managing Director on a quarterly basisAttend quarterly Operations Management Meeting, reporting on current and planned activityMaintain culture for continuous improvement, introducing process and reporting changes to drive improvements for clients, colleagues, and to handle risk outcomesBuild and maintain a network across Aon including underwriting, claims, the AUM Executive team, as well as central teams such as Risk, Law, Audit and Binder ManagementManage AUMs Operational Resilience and Business continuity planningReview and call out operational matters to the AUM Enterprise Risk Management committee, and deputise for COO in this committeeReview and call out conduct matters to the UK Conduct Committee, chaired by UK Chief Risk Officer, and deputise for COO in this committeeLead audit programme annually ensuring all actions are addressed and closed within agreed timelines, both internally and externallyOversee AUM training programme to ensure CPD and compliance module requirements are met by the businessManage breach or E&O incidents in line with documented processesCreate operational business plan annually, to communicate priorities and align resourcing requirementsLine management responsibilitySkills and experience that will lead to successExperience working in Insurance, ideally within the London MarketExperience within a claims team beneficialExperience assessing operational capability gaps and developing them for the futureStrong understanding of managing KPIs and operating within a regulated environmentExperience of audit processesStrong understanding of operational riskExperience managing a number of projects simultaneouslyClient and service focused, strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with colleagues at all levelsExcellent organisational and prioritisation skillsStrong communication skills both written and verbalStrong understanding of managing risk and the regulatory environmentHow we support our colleaguesIn addition to our comprehensive benefits package, we encourage a diverse workforce.
