About the Role Reporting to the Supported Employment Manager, The SEND NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) Coordinator will contact and liaise with schools and settings to identify SEND NEET residents who are no longer engaging with education, employment or training. They will arrange to coordinate Annual Reviews of their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to ensure that young people, where possible, are supported into education or sustainable employment/training to achieve successful transitions to adult life. The SEND NEET Coordinator must identify appropriate outcomes and resourcing to support young people between 16-25 years. The EHCP is a statutory document, and the support must be delivered by the educational establishment, in way set out in the EHCP. The role is pivotal in coordinating the delivery of support services for children and young people with SEND. This involves actively engaging with parents/carers, educational settings, and other professionals to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND. Overall, the SEND NEET Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating a collaborative and effective approach to meeting the diverse needs of individuals with SEND in the Haringey community. You will be required to work collaboratively with the SEND supported employment and statutory assessment teams, including youth services and Haringey Works to support young people who are NEET back into education, training or employment. You will also connect with education settings to monitor and track young people who are not engaging with education and could benefit from a supported internship instead. Additionally, you will work with post-16 teams to identify young people who could go back into education, attend open days where appropriate and work effectively with young people and their families/carers. Building and maintaining positive relationships is emphasised, extending to parents, schools, stakeholders, and professionals. You will be required to keep abreast of current NEET policies in relation to data, numbers and tools to support young people back into education, training and/or employment. Overall, the SEND NEET Coordinator plays a crucial role in driving up standards, improving practices, and ensuring the effective delivery of services for children and young people with SEND in Haringey. About the Team You’ll be joining a newly developed team, driven by integrity, collaboration, and a shared commitment to making a difference to the lives of young people with SEND. Our primary focus is to increase the number of young people accessing supported internships and transitioning into paid employment.
