Platform Engineer

Platform StorageBusiness Area: InfrastructureLocation: LondonSalary: £100,000+Position OverviewWe are seeking a Platform Compute and Storage (PCS) Specialist to join our global team. The successful candidate will design, build, and maintain compute and storage services that scale to support our growth. This role requires deep knowledge of Linux platforms and distributed storage systems, including performance optimization and capacity management. The ideal candidate will have experience with bare metal, hypervisors, containers, and public cloud platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesManage systems efficiently at scale through standardization, automation, testing, and monitoringEnforce development standards for source control, testing, and continuous integrationManage a distributed compute environment and petabyte-scale storage systemsInstall, manage, and monitor the Linux operating system (RHEL-based)Troubleshoot hardware and software issues throughout the stackWork with business owners to prioritize and deliver on objectivesRequired Qualifications3+ years in a technology infrastructure role, including Linux administrationExperience with configuration management tools (Chef, Ansible)Knowledge of distributed storage and protocols (NFS, GPFS, WEKA)Proficient in Python or other high-level languages (Go, Rust, etc.)Experience with version control, agile development, CI/CDFamiliarity with observability tools (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)Experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP)Eagerness to learn and adaptBachelor's Degree in Engineering or related fieldExcellent communication skills
