Role Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned x86 Hardware Product SME to join our team, working closely with the CTO Distributed Compute Product Management teams. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance and technical direction for x86 server hardware, ensuring the alignment of technical strategies with business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the CTO and product management teams to define the technical direction for x86 server hardware.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between business units, architecture, engineering teams, and vendors.
- Manage vendor relationships, including service escalation and ongoing vendor management.
- Stay informed about available x86 hardware bundles, and the firmware/microcode release cycle, and ensure that these are effectively communicated and integrated within the organization.
- Provide expert guidance on architectural, operational, security, and other technical matters.
- Certify overlaying operating systems (Windows, RedHat, ESXi) on x86 server hardware.
- Address security and compliance requirements, particularly within large financial institutions.
- Innovate deployment methodologies and enhance service integration using APIs.
- Utilize agile practices and tools such as JIRA and Confluence to manage projects and tasks.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, influencing decisions and driving strategic outcomes.
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams, including 3rd party vendors.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Expertise in x86 Server Hardware and components, particularly with Dell, Lenovo, and HPE in large, complex enterprise environments.
- Deep technical knowledge of remote server management software such as iDRAC, XCC, and iLO.
- Proven experience in certifying Windows, RedHat, and ESXi operating systems on x86 hardware.
- Strong understanding of security and compliance, especially within the financial sector.
- Familiarity with the integration of services in data-driven organizations using APIs.
- Experience with agile practices and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively within globally distributed teams.
- A passion for technology and solving complex IT operations challenges.
- Demonstrated experience with compute, hypervisors, storage, and networks.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current tools, technologies, and regulatory requirements, particularly in areas like cybersecurity, data privacy, and data residency.
