Role Description Support Worker -  Female Only Please note: If you require a Visa to work in the UK, SeeAbility is currently unable to support any sponsorship requests Location: Hedge End, Southampton, SO30 Salary: £12.00 per hour (£23,400 per year, pro rata) plus Benefits Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a shift rota basis Employment type: Full-time, Permanent, Flexible Do you have experience working with adults with Autism?  Can you keep calm in a crisis and have had exposure to behaviours that challenge? Come and be part of something extraordinary!   We are on the lookout for  Female Communication Support Workers who are calm, patient, and resilient. You will need to be able to drive and have a consistent approach to assisting the people we support to engage in the interests they love.  Furthermore, as Support Worker you will be responsible for:  Daily activities such as personal care; laundry; meal preparation; medication and administration Getting to know the person you will care for and help her to live the life she wants to live Taking personal responsibility for the quality of care and assistance delivered to the person you will care for Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the person you will take care of Helping the lady you will assist plan towards and achieve both short and long term aims Planning and be in favour of activities, such as vacations, learning and social engagements always being creative and exploring new opportunities  Ensuring the person you will assist and their families, are treated with respect, dignity, and equality British Sign Language trained to Level 1 or above To work in accordance with SeeAbility’s valuesWe are looking for someone who can devote to 37.5 hours per week and are willing to work on a shift rota basis, covering mornings, evenings, and weekends. *This post is exempt from the Equality Act 2010 (Schedule 9, Part 1) which provides for the application of a genuine occupational requirement.    Who will you be supporting? At Stewards Bungalow, we support a lady with autism who is non-verbal. Although, the lady is able to hear perfectly, she communicates and expresses  herself using British Sign Language to an extreme high level. Therefore, is really important to us that you are able to understand very quickly what she is saying letter by letter.    As a support worker your contribution will be invaluable. You’ll work as a team to ensure an outstanding support in line with our vision and best centred care. Helping this lady  to live as independently as possible.
