TeacherActive is seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant with experience in moving and handling to support students with Physical Difficulties, SLD, and other associated complex needs. This special school in Sheffield caters to secondary SEN students, offering a tailored curriculum for every student’s needs. Each student also has their own Education Health and Care Plan. The school has complete wheelchair access with tracked hoisting systems in place in 4 classrooms and in the hydrotherapy pool and changing rooms. An ideal Teaching Assistant will have previous experience with moving and handling training and supporting children on a 1:1/small group basis. Due to the nature of the SEND, this role may include personal care. The perfect Teaching Assistant will have the following: Level 2 or 3 qualified and/or highly experienced with SEND Moving and handling training A calm, patient, and caring persona Good communication skills A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines Experience in working with supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and a small group basis Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to have an Enhanced DBS Check All of our supply staff are paid on a PAYE basis, so you can rest assured that you’re paying the right level of Tax and National Insurance and there’s no messing around with admin charges coming out of your hard-earned cash.
