MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.? ? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join MOPAC’s Directorate of Strategy and MPS Oversight to help deliver one of the organisation’s principal statutory duties of holding the MPS to account for its efficiency and effectiveness.?? ? Following the publication of the Baroness Casey Review into the culture and standards of the MPS in March 2023, MOPAC has renewed the oversight framework through which it holds the MPS to account to help drive the far-reaching systematic and cultural reforms that the Commissioner of the Met has committed to deliver. Specifically - MOPAC has established the new London Policing Board, chaired by the Mayor and made up of a diverse range of independent and ex officio members, to improve the openness and transparency of how the MPS is held to account on behalf of Londoners.?? ? ?Working in the Oversight Governance Team you will support the delivery of MOPAC’s oversight framework, with a particular focus on driving the work of the London Policing Board.?? ? You will have specific responsibility for ensuring the delivery of high quality professional support to the London Policing Board to ensure its smooth running and continual development. You will be responsible for working with colleagues across MOPAC, the GLA and wider stakeholders to coordinate MOPAC’s oversight of the MPS, including preparing policy content for the London Policing Board and ensuring the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and members of the London Policing Board are fully briefed and prepared for formal meetings. You will also lead on the development of wider policy relating to police accountability, oversight and reform.?? ? This post is suited to somebody with excellent stakeholder management and policy development skills, with proven ability to work collaboratively with a range of partners and stakeholders on high profile policy areas, and able to think quickly and resolve problems in an efficient manner.
