Company Description Habitat Assessment & Restoration (HAR) is a young and fast growing ecological consultancy and contractor based out of Edinburgh. HAR is dedicated to conserving seabirds and restoring their habitats throughout the British Isles and beyond. With a highly skilled and experienced team, we have taken on the challenge of addressing some of the greatest problems faced by seabirds, including the harmful impact of invasive predatory species. By implementing innovative techniques to restore seabird habitat and creating partnerships with the renewable energy sector, conservation groups, local, national, and international institutions and businesses, HAR contributes to a positive future where seabird populations and their marine and land ecosystems can thrive. Role Description This can be a full-time or flexible role for a Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Manager . You will be joining a small team with a big prospects for growth across multiple ecological restoration projects, where you will be given the opportunity to develop your career and help shape the future of HAR. This role requires a dynamic, innovative, and purposeful individual with proven experience in delivering impactful communications and stakeholder engagement. The role also involves developing HARs profile both domestically and internationally, working closely with our leadership team. The role will be home based, and therefore location is not an issue. It will require plenty of interesting travel opportunities and field work around the UK, its offshore islands, the Channel Islands and potentially overseas. Key responsibilities Working closely with our clients to develop and implement communications and engagement strategies for large scale ecological restoration projects. Collaborating closely with landowners, land managers, conservation groups and local communities to foster an environment that supports involvement and contribution around the projects. Oversee external communications, including media relations, stakeholder engagement, HAR reputation management, and social media, to positively influence target audiences. Manage resources and budgets effectively, focusing on cost-efficient communication solutions. Shape and uphold the strategic narrative, brand vision, and values of HAR. Function as a leader, contributing to corporate initiatives and driving organisational success. A willingness to travel and support field activities. Job essentials Proven experience in communications or stakeholder engagement. Experience of Habitat Regulations Assessment and Biodiversity Net Gain is advantageous. Experience in maximising digital presence, including social media, and websites. Expertise in delivering targeted communications in complex environments. Strong brand understanding and ability to inspire commitment to purpose. Skilled in developing and implementing communication strategies and plans. Success in building trust and effective relationships with client representatives and external stakeholders, including local communities. Effective leader with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop teams. Strong planning and resource allocation skills. Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal. High self-motivation and commitment to the organisation. Ability to stay updated on relevant developments and share key information with colleagues. Full clean driving license is a plus.
