Job Description

Overview:
Joneshouse Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager for a childrens home in Locks Heath. This home specialises in providing care and support for children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties EBD. As the Registered Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of care, safety, and support for the children, while also leading and inspiring a team of care professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Management:

    • Provide strong leadership to the care team, ensuring a supportive and positive environment for both staff and children.
    • Manage the day-to-day operations of the childrens home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and best practices.
    • Develop and implement care plans that are tailored to the individual needs of each child, focusing on their emotional, behavioural, and educational development.
    • Ensure that the home operates within its budget and that resources are used efficiently.
  • Safeguarding & Compliance:

    • Ensure the safety and welfare of all children in the home, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
    • Maintain full compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and standards, including those set by Ofsted and other regulatory bodies.
    • Prepare the home for inspections and audits, ensuring that all records and documentation are up to date and accurate.
  • Staff Development & Training:

    • Recruit, train, and develop a skilled team of care professionals, providing ongoing support and supervision.
    • Conduct regular staff appraisals, set clear performance objectives, and create development plans to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging staff to share best practices and contribute to the development of the home.
  • Child-Centred Care:

    • Foster a nurturing and supportive environment that promotes the emotional and psychological well-being of the children.
    • Work closely with external agencies, schools, and healthcare providers to ensure a holistic approach to each child's care.
    • Engage with families and guardians to involve them in the care process and maintain positive relationships.
  • Crisis Management:

    • Handle any emergencies or crises that arise, ensuring the safety and well-being of both children and staff.
    • Implement and review risk assessments and behaviour management plans to mitigate potential risks.
Essential Criteria:
  • Experience:

    • Proven experience as a Registered Manager in a childrens home, ideally with a focus on EBD.
    • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding policies, and relevant childcare legislation.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and staffing effectively.
  • Qualifications:

    • NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
    • Valid DBS check on the update service.
  • Skills:

    • Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, families, and external agencies.
    • High level of organisational skills, with a methodical approach to planning and problem-solving.
    • Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
