Employee Content Manager

Based; Aldgate, London

The role of an Employee Content Manager is to be the go-to expert for our teams, with the mission of creating and managing standout content for our upcoming employee app and intranet ‘myWHSmith’ and drive the launch and delivery to help us achieve high adoption rates globally.


There are no limits to how creative you can be in this role. From imagery, videos, and copy to building easy-to-navigate pages and structures, to playing a significant role in delivering an impactful launch and engagement plan, you’ll make our one-stop-shop for employees engaging, informative and fun for all our 14,000 colleagues around the globe.


This is a hybrid role, based in our Support Centre in Aldgate, London. Some travel within the UK will be essential.



What you will be doing:

Support the launch of our new employee app ‘myWHSmith’ by:

  • Being the go-to expert and first point of contact for teams across the company for all things myWHSmith
  • Advising on and supporting the build of the app and desktop site, with support from the Head of Internal Communications and the app provider, Staffbase
  • Creating compelling content including copywriting, image editing, page creation and layouts, and internal social posts
  • Supporting launch and engagement plans for our employees around the globe, including an exciting launch and welcome video for myWHSmith
  • Creating useful ‘how to’ bite-size guidance for employees
  • Be the first point of contact for teams across the company to support their content on myWHSmith


What we are looking for:


  • Proven experience creating and managing compelling content for an employee app or intranet is essential
  • Strong creative flair and enthusiasm for creating engaging content
  • Good understanding of social media best-practice
  • Comfortable adapting to deadlines and delivering multiple tasks, while remaining calm under pressure
  • Strong influencing skills with ability to quickly build strong relationships with key stakeholders in support centres and stores,
  • Comfortable presenting to diverse groups of colleagues, including senior executives
  • Good eye for design with ability to produce compelling imagery, GIFs and more for use on myWHSmith
  • Experience of using the Staffbase platform would be a huge benefit, though not essential
