A leading Civil Engineering and Rail Infrastructure Main Contractor are actively seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator for a permanent position near Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity for either Quantity Surveyor or Estimator looking to continue their professional development and hone their skills and experience in a rail and civil engineering project environment. This role is unique in that it will be a blend of both a Quantity Surveyor and Estimating role working on a long-term, secure framework. Our client: * The client is a leading UK business operating primarily within construction and infrastructure schemes; * With a responsible sustainability strategy, they invest significant time and effort to ensure safe working environments with minimal environmental impact; * Due to ongoing and future pending contracts, this is an excellent opportunity to work with one of the UK's largest contractors and get exposure to interesting and prestigious projects. * Projects can typically include civil engineering works and infrastructure projects such as Roads, bridges, footbridges, tunnels, underbridges, flood alleviation/repairs, embankments and rail platforms etc. What you’ll be doing: * The successful Quantity Surveyor/Estimator will be responsible for preparing tender and contract documents, including performing risk, value management and cost control; * Working on civil engineering and rail infrastructure projects, you will also be responsible for managing costs from inception to completion to minimise cost and maximising value for money. * Pricing and ensuring estimates are submitted accurately and on time * Resolving pricing issues with clients * Liaison with Site Managers to collate information on day-to-day remits * Subcontractor management * Change management and early warning * Contract administration (NEC forms of contract) What you’ll need to be successful: * The ideal candidate will be degree-qualified, with at least an HNC in Quantity Surveying; * Experience in rail infrastructure, although any civil engineering background will be considered; * At least 3+ years’ post-graduate experience in Quantity Surveying; * Experience in dealing with NEC Contracts is beneficial. * The works are fast paced and high in volume and requires an experienced commercial candidate with the ability to handle works in this type of fast pace environment What you need to do next: Please hit the APPLY NOW button to send your CV to James Brodie at James Gray Recruitment.
