Job title: Admissions tutorSchool/Function: School of Business and EnterpriseLocation: London (Regent House, WC1)Responsible to: Head of School / Head of ProgrammeResponsible for: Admissions, Learning & TeachingSalary Range: £40,000 - £50,000 per annumJob descriptionOverall purposeThe purpose of the role is to support recruitment and admissions of students to the School of Business and Enterprise and ensure an appropriate quantity and quality of students to a programme of study.Specific duties and responsibilitiesConduct one-to-one interviews (intention to study meeting) with potential applicants to study at Regent College in the School (face to face and online)Ensure all appropriate documentation is completed promptly and accurate records are kept.Proactively contact potential applicants in order to ensure quality and recruitment targets are metMake decisions on applications from prospective studentsMonitor statistics relating to offers and acceptances and the effectiveness of our admissions process, to ensure quality and recruitment targets are met for the programmes – advise on enhancements as neededIdentify trends and reasons for any rejections which can help improve Sales, Recruitment and Admissions processes and trainingPresent a positive view of the College and the programme of study to prospective students, and – where relevant - parents of prospective studentsDeal with enquiries from potential students, Sales and Admissions via phone, email, Teams and in personInternal Collaboration and External Liaison responsibilitiesLiaise with schools, colleges and other external contacts e.g. agents in order to deliver lectures, webinars and talks etc., or to attend open days or promotional events both in person and onlineWork with colleagues to run open days, ‘taster’ events and conversion days and deliver talks, lectures and demonstrations to prospective students both in person and onlineLiaise with Partnerships and Heads of Programme to understand our Programmes fully – the benefits, Programme Specification details (including core and optional modules, intakes, timings, modes of delivery, assessment etc) and Admissions requirementsWork with marketing to ensure messages and promotional materials are accurate and current, i.e. reflect our validated Programmes, their relevant benefits product details and admissions requirements so we are CMA compliant and on brandWork with Heads of Programme, Programme leaders, Student Experience and Admissions on planning, delivery and support for induction weekDeliver some learning and teaching, marking or cover where needed and when time allows as directed by Head of Programme / Head of SchoolPerson SpecificationEXPERIENCE & PERSONAL QUALITIESEssential:Significant student support experienceExperience and knowledge of higher education and relevant admissions requirements (intention, subject, academic criteria) for different levels from Foundation level to, HND, Foundation degree, undergraduate degrees and postgraduate degreesExcellent listening and interviewing experience, able to develop a rapport to support potential students effectively and empathetically through the admissions process - this includes the ability to identify candidates not yet suitable and propose relevant potential development feedback / guidanceAbility to influence, collaborate and interact effectively with a range of stakeholders including staff (at all levels), students and othersExcellent written and oral communication skills including networking and relationship building skills, both across the University and externallyAble to demonstrate both independent self-management and team workingAble to work with competing priorities to tight deadlines while tracking performance and monitoring resultsExperience within a subject area relevant to the school and ability to use a range of learning, teaching and delivery techniques to inspire and engage studentsEvidence of ability to meet the teaching needs for relevant course and degree levelAbility to respond and adapt with agility to often rapidly moving events and developments in both the school and CollegeExperience or knowledge of quality assurance and validation of HE modules / programmesAbility to provide expert guidance to students and other work areas and to develop understanding and resolve complex problemsAbility to work as a team member to enhance admissions processes and quality of taught provision in support of improving student satisfaction and continuation, completion, progression and employabilityInnovative and creativeTECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLSEssential:Highly effective interpersonal, listening and communication skills including oral; written/literacy; numeracy and presentation, underpinned by the ability to use IT to support students and discharge administrative responsibilities (e.g., MS Office, MS Teams, Outlook, SharePoint).Process and project management skillsAn appropriate level of digital capability and aptitude with practical experience of applications which aid student admissions and learningCommitted to a high-performance culture, fostering continuous improvement, and driving qualityAbility to communicate complex and conceptual ideas to a range of groupsEvidence of the use of VLEs in teaching (e.g. MS Teams/Blackboard/Moodle). (essential)Proficient in using IT to support own work and for application to technology-enhanced learning / teaching and research activitiesEDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONSEssential:Master’s degree in relevant subject disciplineSufficient breadth and depth of subject knowledge in the discipline to understand the programmes and develop teaching and the provision of learning support.Experience of admissions, teaching, curriculum development and quality management and enhancement in an HE environment.Desirable:PhD or equivalence i.e. ability to demonstrate equivalent core knowledge and expertise gained from leading edge practiceTeaching qualification or preparedness to work towards.Membership of appropriate Professional Statutory Regulatory Body (PSRB)OTHERAble to take a flexible approach to work i.e., Conduct Intention to Study interviews; filling in when needed with teachingA commitment to the principle of widening participationA commitment to the College’s values and behaviours.A willingness to work/travel across college sitesA commitment to own professional developmentCompliance with relevant Health & Safety issues; ability to contribute to ensuring that these are aligned with education activities; ability to contribute to ensuring that the school has a process for appropriate risk assessment in relation to education and student activity.Ability to align with the College core values in all areas of work, and champion those behaviours in the school.This position requires candidates to undergo a DBS check as part of the application process.
