Somerset Origination works across all carbon programmes including the Gold Standard, Puro.earth, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and Verified Carbon Standard, to provide comprehensive services that support the entire carbon finance value chain from idea to issuance of verified carbon credits. ? Somerset Origination develops climate mitigation projects such as greenhouse gas removals and emission reductions. Technologies include biochar production, enhanced weathering, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and other projects such as safe water supply. All projects are developed to issue verified carbon credits, under a recognised standard.

We are looking for an ambitious and hardworking Project Development Consultant for a 6-month consultancy contract, with the potential to extend.
Description
The role will provide support across all areas of project development, including researching methodologies and project types, calculating emission reductions and removals, analysing standards and policy, and preparing project documentation and reports. The consultant will support in managing delivery of the projects, analysing monitoring data, preparing monitoring reports, and conducting certification audit reviews. The candidate must be a problem solver, analytical, punctual and have attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
The role may also involve partnership development and relationship management, so an entrepreneurial and positive attitude and great communication skills are essential.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support or manage implementation, development and certification of climate mitigation and other environmental projects
- Research climate mitigation and adaptation projects and methodologies
- Prepare project documentation and reports in Word
- Review and analyse monitoring data in Excel
- Calculate climate and SDG impacts of projects
- Track project timelines to ensure quality and timely delivery
Essential
- At least 3 years project management experience
- Educated to a degree level
- Fluent in English
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
Desirable
- Experience of carbon markets and carbon projects
- Familiar with climate mitigation project types such as forestry, biochar, enhanced weathering, renewable energy and energy efficiency
- Use of project management software such as Asana
- GIS software such as ArcMaps
