SEN Learning Support Assistant - Special School Location: North East LondonStart Date: September 2024Position Type: Full-Time (5 days a week)About Us:We are a dedicated Special School located in North East London, committed to providing exceptional education and support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Our school offers a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential through personalized support and tailored learning programs.Role Overview:We are seeking an empathetic and experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have complex needs, autism, speech and language difficulties, global developmental delay, and dysregulated behaviour. You will be instrumental in supporting their educational and personal development, ensuring they receive the individualized attention and encouragement they need to thrive.Key Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one and group support to students with a variety of SEN, tailoring assistance to meet their specific needs. Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons that are accessible and engaging for SEN students. Implement and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans. Support students in developing social skills, communication abilities, and independence. Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies and interventions. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to create a cohesive support network for each student. Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and other staff members.Qualifications and Skills: Previous experience working in a Special School or directly with students with SEN, particularly those with complex needs, autism, speech and language difficulties, global developmental delay, and dysregulated behaviour. Strong understanding of SEN and the strategies to support diverse learning needs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Empathy, patience, and a flexible approach to supporting students. Confidence in managing and supporting students in a classroom setting.
