Job profile

The job holder will provide support to the logistics operations from the Roslin site, manage stock inventory and have responsibility for the procurement and receipt of products to maintain continuous supplies for laboratories and offices.

Areas of responsibility

Logistics Supporting all inbound and outbound shipments to ensure they are processed on time & accurately Scheduling and overseeing global shipping Coordinate shipments using dry ice or appropriate shipping conditions as per the product Ensuring accuracy and compliance with all shipping and customs documentation Managing inventory to ensure optimal on time availability Communicating to customers when logistics paperwork is required or delays to shipments have occurred. Providing stock updates to global distributors. Contributing to operational excellence and assisting in the further development of ISO 9001 QMS and continuous process improvement. Work collaboratively to share best practice and provide cover for logistics

Inventory/Procurement Coordinate with all staff to ensure inventory levels are maintained to ensure continuous workflow Maintain stock levels via accurate and predictive stock monitoring against delivery timelines Purchase required materials using ordering processes and ERP system in line with site requirements Ensure all laboratory areas are stocked with consumables required by scientists Inspect all incoming goods, checking in items against ordering and ERP systems Track purchases to monitor delivery timelines. Liaise with Finance department to monitor goods receipt Conducting regular stock audits to ensure stock levels are maintained and accurate against ERP system

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

The post holder will have the following experience, skills, and attributes: Demonstratable experience in logistics environment Excellent documentation control and attention to detail A positive attitude to work, highly motivated Initiative to own problems and deliver high quality outcomes Calm and focused, with a proactive attitude to troubleshooting Aptitude to finish projects to a high standard Knowledge of shipping with relevant training and qualifications (IATA, ADR) Flexibility to adapt based on the day-to-day business needs, with an ability to work independently

Desirable Experience/Traits Knowledge of working to Quality Standards such as ISO 9001 Facilities management experience in biological research / manufacturing / analytical laboratory setting Understanding of the handling, storage and shipment of biological products
