Job Title: Software Architect


Location: Hybrid – 2 days a week in our Moorgate office

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £55,000 per annum

Role Overview:

We’re looking for a fast thinking, positive minded travel systems specialist to join an ambitious and technology driven business. You will be hands on personally managing the successful operation of our travel systems and connectivity.

This role would suit someone who is still a mid-level developer but with ambitions to evolve into a solutions architect.

You will be reporting into the Head of Strategy, Growth and Development and working alongside the IT operations manager and loading system manager. You will also have close working relationships with external third-party developers.


Requirements

·        Thorough understanding of travel APIs.

·        Knowledge of airline reservation systems, hotel property management systems, and global distribution systems (GDS).

·        Able to read and write code across the technology stack (both front-end/back-end expertise).

·        Understanding of the full technology stack and its underlying applications, services, and databases in order to ensure optimal performance.

·        Knowledge of best practice in solutions architecture.


Day to day role and responsibilities

·        Troubleshoot issues between our APIs, our booking engine and our quote system.

·        Liaise with our booking engine developers and internal staff to identify and resolve user issues.

·        Manage new API connections end to end.

·        Manipulate and monitor API feeds to ensure we are receiving the optimum service and set up.

·        Manage flight and property cache needs.

·        Identify opportunities to improve the functioning of our content management system, including writing bespoke code to enhance its capabilities for internal users.

·        Create a visual map of our systems, including data flows and integration points.

·        Use monitoring tools to identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements.

·        Analyse our systems architecture and work with our IT operations manager to recommend a 5-year optimisation plan that supports our business goals.

·        Liaise with internal stakeholders including our Managing Director and Commercial Director.

 

Good to haves:

·        Experience working with Intuitive

·        Knowledge of static contract loading

·        Knowledge of dual loading set ups

·        Understanding of how to optimise server side and client-side speeds to improve site performance.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in PHP and Laravel, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.), microservices architecture, API design, and database management (SQL, NoSQL), Postman, and relevant developer tools.

·        Travel experience: 3-5 years+ experience, at least 2 of which will have been in travel.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
