Director of Engineering

Job Title: Director of Engineering Location: (Location or Remote, if applicable) Salary: Competitive, based on experience Start Date: ASAP We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Engineering to lead and drive the success of our software and technical solutions. This role is crucial in defining the technical vision and long-term strategy of our engineering department, ensuring the alignment of all engineering efforts with our business goals, and overseeing the successful execution of technology projects. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the technical vision and strategy for the engineering department in line with the company's goals. Identify key technology trends and opportunities. Engineering Excellence: Own the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) across all engineering teams, implement best practices, and ensure optimized processes and tools for efficiency. Team Management: Lead and inspire geographically dispersed teams, including Technical Leads, Shopify Engineers, Quality Analysts, and Developers, while managing relationships with third-party technical service providers. Risk Management: Identify potential risks to projects or the engineering team and take appropriate action to mitigate them. Client Engagement: Build relationships with clients, undertake technology-related responsibilities, and participate in governance boards or steering committees as needed. Budget Management: Set and manage budgets for engineering functions, ensuring resources are used effectively and projects stay within financial constraints. What We Are Looking For: Extensive experience in an engineering leadership role within an e-commerce or retail environment. Proven track record of setting strategic vision and making commercial decisions at a senior level. Strong technical expertise, particularly in modern tech stacks, software architecture, and cloud technologies. Demonstrated ability to manage third-party relationships and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Experience in managing geographically dispersed teams and working across time zones. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to inspire and drive innovation within the engineering teams.
