Position: 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Contract Type: Full-Time/Part-Time (Contract) The Role: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a child with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) in East London (E10). The successful candidate will provide individualized support, including personal care, to help the child fully engage with the curriculum and participate in school life. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement and adapt strategies tailored to the child's unique needs. Key Responsibilities: Provide personalized 1:1 support, including personal care, to a child with specific SEND requirements as outlined in their EHCP. Assist in implementing individualized learning plans, behavior management strategies, and any necessary therapeutic interventions. Support the child's social, emotional, and academic development, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Work closely with the class teacher to adapt lessons and resources to suit the childs individual learning needs. Monitor and document the child's progress, maintaining detailed records and contributing to regular review meetings. Communicate effectively with parents/carers, the SENCO, and external professionals to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach to the child's education. Promote the child's independence and self-confidence, encouraging participation in all aspects of school life. Qualifications and Experience: Experience working with children with SEND, particularly in a 1:1 setting, is highly desirable. Knowledge of various SEND conditions, such as autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties, and the strategies to support these. Experience in providing personal care is required, with a patient, empathetic, and positive approach. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
