Role Overview:


The Head Chef role combines excellent cooking, kitchen management, team management and people skills. The position is client facing and is central to the relationship clients build with food throughout their treatment at Orri. The Head Chef also works closely to the wider clinical team and is open to training, feedback and discussion that supports the clients growth and recovery.


Comfortable with a dynamic work environment where flexibility and a hands-on approach are essential. Experience in non-traditional or care settings is a plus.


Desired skills and expertise:


  • A minimum of 5 years experience delivering a high quality kitchen service.
  • Previous experience managing the exceptional standards in our kitchen, we currently maintain a 5 star food Hygiene standards rating.
  • Excellent HACCP knowledge with Food Hygiene at Level 3 or higher.
  • Adheres to all local and national policy’s and regulatory requirements and standards and leads the organisation in recognizing the required policies for and associated procedures for Orri
  • To be able to source and purchase ingredients on time and within the budget requirements assigned.
  • Reviews and reflects on own performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and appraisal.
  • Contribute to ensuring that Orri safeguarding policies and procedures are followed consistently.
  • Raise any safeguarding issue following appropriate procedure to the Orri safeguarding lead.


As the Head Chef at Orri, your responsibilities extend beyond traditional culinary tasks. In this role, you will have:


  • Culinary Creativity and Collaboration: Devise nutritious and appealing menus in coordination with our Dietetics department, aiding clients in fostering a healthier relationship with food.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead a kitchen team with a focus on nurturing talent, encouraging creativity, and maintaining high standards of culinary excellence.
  • Engagement and Influence: Directly interact with clients, playing a significant role in their therapeutic journey, where food becomes an integral element of their recovery.
  • Hands-On Culinary Involvement: Be actively involved in daily kitchen operations, from food preparation to plating, ensuring high-quality standards are consistently met.
  • Innovative Problem-Solving: Develop creative solutions to dietary challenges, adapting menus and recipes to meet individual client needs and preferences.
