Job title: Senior Admissions Officer

Report to: Admissions and Enrolment Manager

Contract type: Full-time

Hours: 40 hours/week

Start date: ASAP

Salary: £36,000 - £42.000/year

Location: UK (Hybrid or remote options available for suitable candidates)

Main duties and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:


Provide information to prospective students about the programs offered, admission process, eligibility criteria, and associated fees.


Process all home and international applications in accordance with established admission procedures and timelines.


Collaborate with the Recruitment team to ensure timely processing of applications, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.


Exercise professional judgment when reviewing a wide variety of academic transcripts (utilising systems like ECCTIS and LRS) or work experience, ensuring the authenticity of provided documents.


Review non-standard student applications and manage the associated decision-making panels, ensuring fair and thorough assessment of candidates outside the typical criteria.


Maintain student records in central databases, ensuring information is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulations.


Manage interview bookings (academic, non-academic) and English Language assessments, and oversee the pre-enrolment process.


Liaise with senior team members to gain sign-off on application decisions, including outcomes such as conditional/unconditional offers, rejections, deferrals, and withdrawals.


Issue formal communications to applicants, including offer letters, rejections, or other relevant application updates.


Work with the Admissions Manager to identify and implement improvements to the admissions process, driving operational efficiency.


Line manage Admissions Officer(s), providing supervision and support, conducting performance reviews, training and ensuring team KPIs are met.


Assist with audit preparation, including compiling documentation, creating reports, updating records, and supporting auditors with any queries.


Review and contribute to policy development, ensuring admissions policies remain current and effective.


Support the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process, including the organisation of RPL panels and reviews.


Assist in Return to Study (RTS) panels, ensuring the smooth processing and approval of RTS applications.


Manage the Admissions inbox, ensuring all queries and communications are responded to promptly and effectively.


Support additional duties or projects as assigned by the line manager, ensuring team flexibility and responsiveness.


Provide flexible support across departments during peak times or as required, ensuring seamless and responsive service to applicants, students, and colleagues, and contributing to wider institutional objectives.




Principal Accountabilities

To provide accurate course and student information as required by the College.


Attend team meetings and contribute to Quality Assurance reviews and audits.


Maintain confidentiality in relation to all college information and comply with General Data Protection Regulation.


To be involved in college staff development and training schemes and participate in Personal Development Review procedures within the College.


To adhere to the College's Equality and Diversity Scheme with respect to staff and students.


To comply with and implement the College’s Health and Safety policy.


To undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required.

Candidates/Post holders will be expected to demonstrate the following:

Demonstrable experience at a similar level, within a busy administrative environment - E

Knowledge and understanding of UK higher education admissions processes, including international admissions - E
