Metals Based Manufacturing & Process Engineering - Welding

Location: Wolverhampton

Salary: up to £50,000 + benefits

The company:

As a key supplier in the global manufacturing industry, this successful business has an enviable list of clients across a wide range of sectors including; Automotive, Aerospace, Off-Highway and Rail. Currently in a period of growth and continuous improvement, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to become a key player in their highly capable Engineering team. This role will report to the Engineering Manager.

The role:

This role will be responsible for analysing, designing, and implementing efficient manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness. It will also require a deep understanding of welding and other metal fabrication techniques, alongside a solid background in process engineering.

Key responsibilities:

  • Process optimisation: Analyse existing welding processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Continuous improvement: Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process performance, quality, and safety.
  • Process design and development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and quality, to develop and implement new manufacturing processes.
  • Technical support: Provide technical expertise and support to production teams in troubleshooting process-related issues.
  • Equipment management: Work closely with maintenance and equipment teams to ensure optimal performance of welding and pressing machinery.
  • Data analysis and reporting: Collect and analyse process data to monitor performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Training and development: Train and mentor production staff on new processes, equipment, and best practices.
  • Safety and compliance: Ensure all processes comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.

The person:

  • HNC or HND or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in process engineering within metals-based manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, spot welding)
  • Proficiency in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) and tools.
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulations.
