Job Description

Sales Manager

We are seeking a Sales Manager to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be open, driven and organised, with the role providing an opportunity to build experience and learn new skills. We are ideally looking for candidates with 3-5 years research experience, currently working in, or recently experienced in the online field sector, who now feel ready to move into a varied role and acquire more responsibility. This is an exciting new role in an insight agency with a focus on “be better”.

What’s the job?

Reporting to the Sales Director, the role has two primary functions:

Firstly, to support the Sales Director and manage the two junior members of the sales team. The junior members are primarily responsible for providing internal quotations to other Group companies, but the role would also assist the Sales Director with third party quotes.

The second function is to spend approximately 40% of time identifying potential new clients for the business and setting up meetings between the prospects and the Sales Director.

The split of time per function would be subject to change and to best suit the needs of the business at any given period.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to come in and build on what has been a stabilisation period of the last 12 months, but where the business has also ambitiously and successfully launched in the USA. Focus will be on 2025 being a year of commercial growth to help propel the company forwards.

The role will have the opportunity to evolve and, if successful, could expand into new business responsibilities for the other operational companies within the UK Group.

What you’ll do

·      Manage two junior members of the sales team (a bid manager and an account executive), providing support and guidance particularly on quote provision.

·      Maintain all team admin including the recording / storing of quotes and keeping the CRM systems up to date.

·      Identify potential new clients, making contact via traditional channels (social media, email, telephone), setting up in person meetings (via Teams or face to face) with the Sales Director.

·      Contribute to the financial performance of both the sales team and wider company.

·      Take a lead role in developing new business leads and growth opportunities.

·      Develop the junior members of the team so they can work more independently on more complicated quotes.

·      Prepare quotations, and business credential information to allow successful introductory meetings where the client need has been identified, and the best tailored solutions can be provided.

·      Manage and develop relationships with both clients and supplier contacts.

What you’ll bring

The successful candidate is likely to be an experienced sales manager, with a background in full-service market research including field and tabulation services from a sales and business development perspective.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Strong project management, an ability to work to deadlines and juggle competing priorities.
  • Background in new business and account growth.
  • An eye for detail and accuracy at all stages, but particularly when checking quotation specifications such as quotas, output requirements etc.
  • Excellent, fluent, written and spoken English (fluency in French is a bonus but not a requirement).
  • A high level of competence in working with both Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Professional experience, ideally within a research agency, evidencing well-rounded and developing research skills across the project cycle including project design, development of fieldwork materials, management of fieldwork and analysis/reporting together with an awareness of market trends and competitive pressures.

The following skills and experience would be viewed as a bonus rather than a requirement but, at a minimum, we are looking for someone who is willing to learn and undertake:

·      Projects on behalf of a variety of clients in our key sectors

  • A mix of both quantitative and qualitative research

What you’ll enjoy

·      Competitive salary (£40,000-£50,000 based on experience)

·      Commission (details to be confirmed based on experience)

·      Discretionary year-end bonus

·      Hybrid working, mixing home with our London office in Angel

·      26 days’ annual leave, increasing with service

·      A variety of employee benefits including retailer discounts and subsidised gym membership

·      Subsidised private healthcare

·      Automatic opt-in to the Government’s NEST pension scheme

·      Supportive and collaborative culture

·      Comprehensive training programme

·      Monthly social events and regular CSR activities
