Fork Lift Truck Operative

Location: Astley, Manchester

Based in Astley, Manchester, our client is a manufacturer and worldwide exporter of Surfactants. The candidate must be well organised, efficient, self-motivated and possess good practical skills.

The Role

• Loading and unloading palletised goods onto and from vehicles.
• Responsible for positioning these goods on our site in designated areas according to their nature and hazards, under supervision from our Logistics Supervisor.
• Supervision during off-loading of bulk materials to dedicated storage vessels.
• Transporting material from storage areas to processing areas when required by plant operatives.
• Checking paperwork associated with all these transfers with labelling on containers as well as reports from our office.
• Occasionally repacking of material from original containers to new using mechanical pumps, cleaning of pumps after use, applying labels to new containers.
• Participating in stock taking, activities for general site tidiness and cleanliness.

Skills and Qualifications

• Fork-Lift Truck License essential.
• Prior experience in the Chemical Industry advantageous.
• Prior experience in any industry essential.
• Competency in Maths and English (reading, written and spoken) required.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Working in a small team, but confident to work independently.
• Must be prepared to cover other roles when needed.
