Job Title : Junior Penetration Tester
Contract Duration : 6 Months
Location : Remote with occasional site visits (London)
IR35 : Inside IR35
The Role:
We are seeking a motivated Junior Penetration Tester to support security assessments and vulnerability identification across various systems and applications. In this role, you will assist the security team in performing penetration tests, analyzing security vulnerabilities, and delivering detailed reports on potential risks. You will also work closely with senior security professionals to develop your skills and knowledge in the field of ethical hacking and penetration testing.
Key Responsibilities:
Penetration Testing Support :
Assist in conducting penetration tests on web applications, networks, and infrastructure to identify security vulnerabilities and potential attack vectors.
Vulnerability Analysis :
Support the identification and assessment of vulnerabilities in client environments. Help analyze the potential impact and recommend remediation steps.
Reporting and Documentation :
Assist in preparing detailed reports of test results, highlighting findings, risks, and recommended fixes. Contribute to presentations for stakeholders.
Collaboration and Learning :
Work closely with senior penetration testers and security analysts to improve your technical skills and understanding of security practices. Stay updated on new vulnerabilities and hacking techniques.
Key Skills and Requirements:
Experience :
Some experience in penetration testing, security assessments, or vulnerability management is desirable. A foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles is essential.
Technical Knowledge :
Basic knowledge of network security, web application security, and vulnerability scanning tools. Familiarity with operating systems such as Linux and Windows is beneficial.
Tools :
Exposure to tools such as Burp Suite, Metasploit, Nmap, Nessus, or similar. Understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) is a plus.
Certifications :
Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) are desirable but not required.
Problem-Solving Skills :
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively about security problems. Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
Communication Skills :
Ability to document findings clearly and concisely. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and clients.
Desirable Qualities:
Passionate about cybersecurity and ethical hacking.
Eager to learn from experienced professionals.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks in a remote setting.
