Procurement Manager


Role Overview


We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to work as part of a dynamic specialist Clinical Procurement and Market Management team within Arden and GEM Commissioning Support Unit. You will deliver a strategic service for customers that delivers high value, improved patient care and cost efficiency savings.

You should have public sector procurement experience, including leading on complex tender processes, ideally gained within the NHS or Healthcare sector.

Role Scope:


  • Full time hours - 37.5 per week
  • A fixed-term agreement for 6 months
  • A remote work schedule with occasional office days for team meetings in the West Midlands area.

Key Responsibilities:


  • You will support the Senior Procurement Manager in the delivery of the clinical procurement and market management service, ensuring we are meeting our customers’ needs and overall business objectives.
  • Work on collaborative procurement projects across a diverse range of stakeholders, including clinical leads, to meet key milestones and performance indicators.
  • Provide specialist training to customers on the implications of procurement legislation and what they need to consider when making commissioning decisions.
  • Effectively manage sourcing and procurement processes that translate into robust procurement projects that comply with procurement guidance and legal frameworks.
  • Develop relationships with strategic providers to maintain delivery performance and a good working knowledge of changing market conditions.


Knowledge & Skills:


  • Registered full member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or equivalent experience.
  • Awareness of public sector procurement policy.
  • You will ideally have experience in procuring clinical services in line with the Light Touch regime.
  • You will be a clear communicator with excellent writing, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of the NHS Commissioning landscape would be advantageous.
  • You will be skilled in communicating on complex matters that may require persuasion and influence.
  • Have the ability to make decisions autonomously, when required, on difficult issues, working to tight and often challenging deadlines.
