We are a small accountancy practice looking for an Accounts Assistant. This role is suited to those with good communication abilities, who are organised, and have a high attention to detail. You would be supporting a senior accountant initially, then have the opportunity to gradually take on your own clients. ResponsibilitiesUtilise FreeAgent software (previous experience not required but preferred)Prepare, send, and submit quarterly VAT returnsSubmit monthly payroll with HMRCAccounts preparation, including asset treatment and depreciationPrepare and send self-assessment calculationsPhone HMRC on behalf of clients for various tax queriesOn occasion send written correspondence to HMRCReply to client emails in a timely mannerProvide client support by email and phoneQualificationsAAT Level 3+ is preferred but not required if you already have a good understanding of accounts production, accruals basis accounting, and VAT legislation from a similar role. An understanding of technology or a willingness to learn is essential. We use various commercial softwares to prepare and submit accounts, VAT, payroll, and self-assessment. Excel is also utilised on occasion, primarily to format data. An understanding of basic precautions when using the internet is also necessary to keep client data safe.Training and support would be provided to get acquainted with our processes and systems. As this is a remote role, any necessary equipment such as a laptop would be also be provided. Staring salary £26,000 per annum. Statutory holiday pay and sick leave are included as standard.
