• Requires Membership of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or Chartered Association of
Building Engineers
• Responsible for the Council's Statutory and non-statutory functions as a Local Building Control
Authority including the creation of policies, guidance and the processing and support of building
regulation applications
• To take responsibility for Building Control projects from conception to completion, (negotiating
complex technical solutions)
• To act for the Council as an expert witness in respect of enforcement of the building regulations
• To commission the use of structural and fire safety specialists on complex projects
• To support less senior officers and administrators
