We are a full-service design, creative and digital agency based in Winchester, with a team of 16. Our clients span a range of sectors including healthcare, education, not-for-profit, climate change, and commercial. We’ve been around for 27 years but despite this, no project is the same and we’re always learning and pushing ourselves to achieve greatness.
As our digital team continues to grow, we’re looking to hire a Junior Web Developer to join us on this exciting journey.
This role provides a fantastic opportunity to learn from experienced senior developers and digital experts, working on a wide variety of exciting projects and gaining valuable skills across the full spectrum of web development. You’ll be working closely with our team with full support, training and mentoring to help you grow and flourish in your career.
This is a hybrid role (3 days in / 2 days remote).

What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Head of Digital, you’ll assist with day-to-day tasks across the digital team. This is a hands-on role with plenty of opportunities to grow, and you’ll be involved in:
- Website support and maintenance: Applying website updates (WordPress plugins, core updates), monitorinf website uptime, assisting with hosting and domain management.
- Full-stack development: Collaborating on both front-end and back-end development tasks, including creating responsive websites, bug fixes, and feature enhancements.
- Responsive email design: Developing fully-responsive email templates and campaigns using the MJML framework.
- Collaborative project work: Work with the team to develop websites and digital solutions for a variety of clients, from simple landing pages to bespoke WordPress-powered websites.
- Custom development: Get involved in building custom blocks for WordPress using php and React, and develop in-house solutions and innovations.
We use Wordpress for 90% of what we do; the ideal candidate would have experience in Wordpress and be able to set up a Wordpress site from scratch, including server, domain, install and content population.
What we’re looking for
This role is a perfect entry-level position for someone with foundational coding knowledge who’s eager to learn and grow. You don’t need years of experience – just a passion for web development and a hunger to develop your skills.
Essential Skills:
- Basic experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (ES6)
- Some experience with PHP and MySQL
- Familiarity with the WordPress CMS and its plugin ecosystem
- An understanding of how back-end and front-end development work together
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for learning
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD)
- Knowledge of AJAX, asynchronous request handling, and custom WordPress development
- Familiarity with task runners (e.g., Gulp, Webpack) and pre-processing techniques (e.g., SASS)
- Experience working with APIs and integrating them with WordPress
- Knowledge of version control (e.g., Git)
