We are seeking an Environment Sustainability Performance Manager to work on the Sizewell C project. This role will be based in London with hybrid working options. There will also be frequent visits to Leiston.
The purpose of the role is to act as main interface between the Sizewell C Client (Civils Work Programme and Environmental Consenting and Assurance Function, the ESG and Radiation Strategy Directorate and the Site Delivery Team) and the Civils Works Alliance in the areas of Environmental Compliance, Sustainability and Consenting (including the Development Consent Order).
• Ensuring all environment and sustainability commitments and requirements from the SZC Client are flowed down into the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) and the SZC Design Supply Chain arrangements including those associated with Sizewell C s Environmental Licenses, Permits and Consents, Development Consent Order (DCO) and wider ESG Commitments.
• Ensuring the CWA and the SZC Design Supply Chain is fulfilling its Level 0 (Self Checking) Assurance of its work in line with their environmental and sustainability Arrangements.
• Providing advice and guidance to the CWP, CWA and the SZC Design Supply Chain on SZCs environmental and sustainability obligations, pulling support of the wider SZC Client organisation as required. Identifying risks, issues and opportunities relating to environment and sustainability.
• Responsible for the monitoring and reporting of construction environmental permits, consents, and licences within the CWP.
• Supporting the design change, procurement and delivery processes as appropriate, to ensure environmental, decommissioning and sustainability requirements are considered.
• Provide leadership on environment and sustainability to the Client Organisation and the CWA, directing and coordinating the provision of technical advice and approaches to assure compliance of works undertaken
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
• An understanding of the requirements and arrangements needed to deliver compliance with environmental permits, licences, and consents.
• Strong Problem Solving and Organisational Skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
• Must be able to work independently and demonstrate excellent communication/interpersonal and influencing skills.
• A well-developed skillset with regards to the communication with a variety of stakeholders.
• Accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to see projects through from start to finish.
• Ability to manage a junior resource.
Desirable
• Knowledge of sustainability and ESG in the UK relevant to a construction site, plus knowledge of the supporting industry best practice.
• Strong assurance and challenge skills with excellent communication/interpersonal skills notably with various levels of the organisation and externally.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
• Degree qualified or equivalent in an environmental, science, engineering or related discipline.
• Experience of operating within an environmental management system (EMS) conforming to recognised standards (BS EN ISO14001:2004), including the development of procedures to meet the requirements of the EMS.
• Experience managing environmental issues on a large infrastructure/engineering project.
• Experience developing relationships or working with regulators. DM potentially not essential
Desirable
• You would be expected to gain membership of a related Professional Body such as IEMA or CIWEM.
This is a contract role to run to the ned of the year but likely to be extended.
The role falls inside IR35.
