Control Systems Engineer

Position: Senior Control Systems Engineer Contract: Full Time, Permanent Salary: £ DOE plus paid overtime (weekdays & any weekend work) Location: Coventry Area Wentworth James Group has engaged with a new client and an established specialist within control system design, software and manufacture for industrial machinery across various industry sectors. Due to an increase in new business and projects we are seeking a Control Systems Engineer on a permanent basis. As a Controls Engineer you will be responsible for designing and developing control software for Siemens S7 and TIA based programmable control systems together with Rockwell, Bosch Rexroth CoDeSys and other PLC and Safety systems. As Control Systems Engineer you will have experience designing and writing PLC and HMI software for industrial applications from first principals and are ready to face the challenge to join our dynamic controls department within a long-established and respected control system engineering company in the Midlands, we would love to hear from you. We offer a flexible and hybrid working scheme during the design phase of projects. The position will involve working from our Coventry or Hinckley offices during software design and writing and then software installation and commissioning activities will take place on-site at customers’ sites. This will involve periods of working at our customer’s site with the team and there will be periods of working away from home. A full UK driving license is required for the position due to site work. Minimum requirements * 5+ years of writing plc software from first principles. Ideally in SIEMENS S7 classic and/or TIA. Rockwell Studio 5000 is another option * Experience writing safety software and validating this against a safety matrix * VFD drives configuration and setting up * STL and or IL coding experience. * ProfiNet systems or similar * Ability to read electrical drawings * Ability to carry out basic electrical fault finding using a multimeter * Documentation such as FDS, O&M manuals, etc. * Proficient in Microsoft Office * A good understanding of the English language, spoken and written due to most of our customers being in the UK. * Full UK driving licence Desirable * Design and commission of robots * KUKA * ABB * FANUC * Motion experience * SIEMENS * Rockwell * Bosch * CNC experience * SIEMENS * Bosch * FANUC Nice to have * Machine safety training * Vision systems * Eplan P8 design
