Plyable, Oxford UKFull time 40 hrs/week, predominantly on siteSalary £35,000 - 45,000Reports to Head of ProductionOctober StartA senior design role working with an enthusiastic team at a fast growing Composites Start Up based in Oxford, UK.Key ResponsibilitiesCreate production ready CAD models and drawings for composite patterns and moulds.Ensure quality and inspection requirements are documented and agreed with both customer and supply chain.Manage customer data revisions.Support other members of the production team with design reviews and technical support / guidance.Work within time and budget limits, contribute to revising these if requiredManage external design resources, when required, to deliver Plyable-standard work.Further developing specialist knowledge in composites tooling and manufacturing processes.Key SkillsProficiency in CAD (Catia v5 and SolidWorks), including part design, surface design, assembly, and drafting modules. (3+ years Catia experience required).Best practice experience of parametric modelling, tooling and surface design optimised to a customer’s mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing requirements.Knowledge of tolerancing for, and inspection of finished parts.Ability to create production data release including CAD models, technical drawings, and clear statements of work to encompass all quality and visual requirements.Knowledge of composite manufacturing processes, including CNC machining and CFRP layup, and the ability to design tooling optimised for these, considering factors like material properties, tool paths, tolerances, and cost-effectiveness.Strong communication skills:Customer facing (including able to run design reviews and document decisions).Supplier facing (including projects reviews and in person tooling reviews).Internally (supporting sales and technical teams, assisting colleagues with technical guidance).Able to work dynamically in a small team, (able to move across various aspects of design, planning, reviewing etc. as business needs require).Good commercial awareness, including ability to make decisions around different sourcing options and the risks and benefits associated with them.Self motivated with excellent time management.Desirable ExtrasExperience of Aerospace engineering standardsExperience of manufacturing, ideally in composites and metal (i.e. seeing designs made into finished physical forms)Geometrical Tolerancing and Dimensioning (GD+T)STEM subject to degree level or similarWhat Plyable offers25 days holidaySalary sacrifice pension schemeFlexible working hoursCycle to work schemeCareer progression opportunities for this role remain highly flexible, opportunities can include the development of commercial or management skills, or furthering your soft skills.
