European Consumer Equity Analyst - Investment Management

Our client, a Global active investment management firm, is seeking a Senior Equity Analyst (min 7 years exp) to idea generate into an existing European equity fund. This person will be given the opportunity to cover a variety of sectors but with a slanted focus on Consumer sector.JOB DESCRIPTION:The European Equity desk is looking to bolster their research capability and hire a senior equity research analyst in London. The desk is looking for hard working and curious minded professionals, passionate about fundamental research of stocks and industries. Ideal candidates must also be able to communicate effectively and express complex ideas clearly and succinctly.You will report directly to the Senior Portfolio Manager heading European equities, a 20-year+ equity investor veteran.You will be working in a fast-paced, performance-oriented environment with a high-achieving team who is driven by professional goals but also shares common human values of team spirit and inclusiveness.Your responsibilities:Your primary task will be to:Conduct company investment research to an validate investment thesis – including financial analysis, due diligence on industry trends, company management and strategies and ESG impact and risksYou will be expected to:Attend industry conferences, conduct meetings with management teams, industry leaders to build stronger understanding of underlying industry, competitive dynamics, business drivers, strategic direction and ESG impact and risksMaintain up-to-date knowledge of verticals/industry happenings and current eventsDevelop insightful financial modelling and valuation: quickly input data into models to arrive to insightful charts, dashboards and conclusionsProduce high quality investment research memos and document research findingsArticulate clearly and succinctly investment conclusions in both formal presentations and more informal discussions with PMAssist in building and continuously improving the team’s ESG tools and frameworkRegularly turn insight on specific verticals and company trends into short original content aimed for clients and wider audience on digital mediaCreate and maintain layout templates for frequently used research notes, models, charts, and exhibitsYour qualifications:7+ years’ experience on either the sell- or buy-side as an Equity Research Analyst with Consumer sector expertise.CFA or equivalent is valuedYour soft skills:Ability to communicate effectively and express complex ideas succinctly – both written and verbalEvidence of clear analytical thinkingAbility to work in a thorough, systematic and methodical wayBehavioural awareness, open mindedness, and ability to incorporate new elements quickly into actionable thinkingAbility to work under deadline pressure while managing to stay on top of daily newsflow and tasksAbility to multitask while maintaining attention to detailOwnership and follow-through on projects to completion, never letting today’s task to tomorrow even if it means staying long hoursDriven and entrepreneurial spirit, initiative, and ambitionYour technical skills:MS Office, high familiarity with BloombergStrong equity research skills with strength in financial analysis/modelling gained from experience working in a similar roleDeep curiosity to analyse and understand business models, industry dynamics, and competitive analysis in detailsUnderstanding of financial markets, investment theories and asset valuationsEffective communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to synthesize and communicate large amounts of information in succinct mannerAbility to code in VBA Excel or Python a plusFor a discreet and confidential conversation please feel free to contact me directly on email at [email protected] or on my direct line +353 1 697 8631
