Senior Microbiologist

Senior Microbiologist Type: Temporary / ongoing Industry: Manufacturing Location: Folkestone, Kent Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 - 16:00 / 09:00 -17:00 (37 - 40hrs per week) Pay: £15.50 - 17.00 DOE We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Microbiologist to join a well-established team in the manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and possess a strong background in microbiology. Responsibilities: - Prioritise the work of the team in accordance with business needs. - Act as the voice and point of contact for microbiological issues within the organisation. - Ensure all laboratory staff are competent and compliant in related procedures and work in accordance with relevant ISO standards. - Perform microbiological tests on materials for use in production. - Conduct microbiological monitoring in production plant and filling areas. - Sample and test RO process water and seawater deliveries to the site. - Examine contaminated plates to determine bacterial profiles. - Maintain accurate records and produce concise reports for KPIs and investigations. - Play an active role in internal investigations requiring microbiological testing to resolve issues within products or production areas. - Perform and collate data from environmental testing within the plant. - Promote safe and compliant working practices within the laboratory and production plant. Requirements: - Previous experience working in a laboratory environment within a regulated industry (e.g., FMCG, Medical Device, Pharmaceuticals) is essential. - Minimum of A levels in a scientific subject. - Knowledge and experience of quality tools such as Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, CAPA is desirable but not essential.
