Steel Operative - Night Shift

Steel Operative – Night Shift * Stockport * Sunday – Thursday * 10:00pm – 6:00am * £13.53 per hour A leader in the steel stockholding industry is seeking an experienced Steel Operative to join their team on a permanent basis (following a successful probation period via agency). You will be responsible for operating gantry cranes, band saws and other machinery to cut steel to customer specifications. Requirements * Previous experience in a warehouse setting or as a sawyer is preferred * Familiarity with steel processing and handling * Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently * Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality * Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team Key Responsibilities * Operate saws and other machinery to cut steel to customer specifications * Manage inventory levels and ensure accurate stock counts * Assist in loading and unloading materials from trucks * Maintain a clean and organized work environment * Follow safety protocols and adhere to company policies and procedures * Collaborate with team members to optimise processing operation Salary and Training Details £11.84 per hour during the training period (on day shift), increasing to £13.53 per hour once you are deemed competent and transitioned to night shifts with less supervision.
