Job Title: Information Technology Infrastructure Specialist Location: Aldridge, UK/Hybrid Salary: up to £50,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience) Fixed Term Contract. - Up to 12 months Orridge is Europe's longest-established stocktaking business, having been founded in 1846. Its pan-European services are coordinated from operational bases in the UK, Germany, and Belgium. You will be working in a fast-moving services company that takes great pride in the services it delivers to its customers. Orridge has a UK-wide client base and looks after the stock-taking for retail and pharmacy clients, some of the most recognised household names on and off the high street. Who are we seeking? We are seeking an IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our IT team based in Aldridge for up to 12 months. The team works in the office and at home, giving a balance of hybrid working. The team is managed by Ian, and the role is key to supporting the Orridge business and delivering the operational support to the field teams. Working with the wider IT team, you will be responsible for the business's IT network and infrastructure. You will be used to working in a team environment where you thrive on taking accountability and responsibility for your specific area and contributing to the wider strategic plans. Managing and ensuring critical systems requires your technical knowledge to be practical as well as more theoretical. Planning and time management will be second nature to you in ensuring a robust approach to the maintenance of all infrastructure systems. You will enjoy the balance of technical and human aspects. Mentoring and supporting IT Technicians should be an explicit part of this role. Knowledge sharing and collaboration as a team and sometimes as part of the wider IT community across the Group Companies are needed for wider projects. We know that this role isn't for everyone. You will need to ensure you balance your involvement with projects with the routine of hands-on maintenance tasks. You will seek and embrace responsibility and accountability for the delivery of work from both you and your colleagues. Responsibilities : Actively contribute to the strategic direction of the IT technical team. Participate in regular strategic sessions to discuss future plans and improvements. Ensure IT systems are up-to-date, secure, well-managed, and thoroughly documented. We maintain our systems using industry-standard methodologies. Monitor and maintain critical systems, including switches and virtual and physical server environments. This role involves working as part of a collaborative team and requires hands-on skills and the ability to anticipate future needs. Manage Veeam backups, both on-site and in the cloud. Specific knowledge of Veeam systems and methodologies is essential. Provide advanced technical support and mentorship to IT technicians. This includes overseeing their work and providing guidance as needed. Oversee the setup, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft Hyper-V. Extensive experience with Hyper-V is required. Manage and deploy SonicWALL firewalls and Dell switches. Experience with these specific systems is preferred, but knowledge of other firewalls and switches is also valuable. Demonstrate strong Azure cloud infrastructure expertise, particularly in disaster recovery (DR) management. Practical experience in DR management is essential. Required Experience/Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft operating systems. Experience with Hyper-V. Knowledge of Dell switches and SANs (EqualLogic and PowerVault). Understanding of VLANs and core Active Directory roles and services. Familiarity with cybersecurity tools and SIEM devices. SQL Server experience is a plus but not mandatory.
