A leading Global Engineering & Manufacturing company has been evolving and they are now looking to bring in a Senior Buying Specialist to the team. Salary Fully Negotiable - highly competitive rate of pay for the role which is negotiable based on experience plus benefits + Great Benefits Overview: The objective is to achieve the best overall cost management for the business, ensuring price competitiveness and timely delivery of materials, while maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet key annual targets. The Strategic Buyer will develop strategic procurement plans and foster strong supplier relationships to create mutually beneficial opportunities. They will work closely with the senior leadership team to achieve these strategic goals. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Global Spend Audit & Strategic Plan: Conduct a full audit of the company's global spend and develop a strategic buying plan to identify short, medium, and long-term cost-saving opportunities. Supplier Management: Establish, manage, and control relationships with external suppliers, building strategic partnerships. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Build strong relationships with internal departments such as Sales, Engineering, Production, and Business Development. Material Evaluation: Evaluate the use and integration of new and existing materials. Supplier Research: Identify the best products and suppliers in terms of value, delivery schedules, and quality, while adhering to budget constraints. Demand and Price Forecasting: Forecast demand for products and services, and predict price trends and their impact on future business activities. Inventory and Material Control: Implement efficient stock procedures and material controls to reduce spending, waste, and inventory levels. Supplier Database Management: Develop a comprehensive supplier database for ongoing management and performance evaluation. Savings and Performance Reporting: Develop reporting systems to highlight cost savings and evaluate supplier performance. Market Monitoring: Continuously monitor competitor and potential competitor products and services. Supplier Negotiations: Regularly negotiate and agree supplier terms, monitor contract progress, and ensure high quality of service. New Supplier Identification: Identify and negotiate terms with new suppliers, establishing supply agreements. Compliance and Policy Adherence: Ensure compliance with the company's Anti-Bribery policy and adhere to ISO 9001 Quality Management standards, as well as Health & Safety procedures. Essential Criteria: 3+ years of experience in a supply chain or materials planning role. Strong business, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and IT systems, including experience with ERP and SAGE. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with a high level of initiative. Strong communication skills, with the ability to address issues across various departments. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
