Job Requirements / Description
1. Main Purpose of Job Responsible for the on-site mechanical and electrical repair, preventative maintenance and modification of the Clients fleet and customer vehicles. Attend customer sites or roadside breakdowns for scheduled and unscheduled repairs as and when required. 2. Position in Organisation • Reports to the Head of Fleet & Operations, workshop Controller and Fleet Support Engineer (Colnbrook) 3. Objectives Carry out preventative maintenance inspections and servicing, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic equipment and ancillary repairs, prepare vehicles for MOT`s, in accordance with the Clients Policies and Procedures Complete all relevant paperwork and documentation accurately and on time. Adhere to H&S, environmental, and company safety rules at all times. 4. Key Tasks Health & Safety and Location Appearance Throughout each day, ensure that the working place in the workshop and associated areas are safe. Check that there are no obvious defects with workshop buildings & plant likely to cause a H&S issue. Carry out monitoring for Risk Associated Behaviour regularly and take the necessary action and report to the Site Manager. Shop floor daily tasks Clear expectations and time lines for completion of vehicle inspections are updated to the workshop Manager. After completion of each vehicle inspection and before any additional work is carried out advise on rectification and set clear expectations and time lines for completion of additional work. All parts requests are authorised work before the order is placed with supplier or before parts are drawn from inventory. Ensure no rechargeable opportunities are missed. For repairs outside of normal working hours, leave clear instructions for direct reports. Service Documentation, Work Orders Ensure all service documentation is completed to the highest standards and R2C system has been updated and jobs cleared when completed. All documentation be it paperwork or system related should not be called into question either internally or externally. Ensure all vehicle inspection and service sheets are correctly completed and all safety related defects are cleared, and systems uploaded before any vehicle is released. Ensure all defects are fully investigated, actioned and signed off. No DEFECT to be signed off with ‘No Fault Found’ without first reviewing the reported defect personally with the customer/driver. Where no fault is found, record on the DEFECT and repair order comments the work that was carried out to investigate the defect. Throughout each day, liaise with the Workshop Controller and Fleet Support Engineer to ensure Work Orders are closed and ready for approval. Ensure all vehicle repair data, labour, parts, comments and associated maintenance data is entered correctly and accurately. Ensure that only the actual time taken to complete repairs are accounted for. Customer At all times ensure that good quality PM’s are completed on time without going overdue. Compliance Ensure the workshop is always compliant in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures and that workshop meets the required standard for all legal requirements and regulatory bodies. Check that there are no obvious defects with workshop buildings & plant likely to cause a H&S issue, and that the location will stand up to any unannounced visit by H&S Representatives, Customers or other Management and Staff. Ensure all inventory processes are followed and manage inventory control for all incoming and outgoing stock to minimize variances. Ensure all documentation within the workshop is correctly completed and entered on to the R2C system. . 5. Qualifications Essential Qualifications • Fully skilled LGV Technician through recognised formal training programme, NVQ Part 4 or City & Guilds Part 3 or equivalent • Driving licence including LGV C+E • Ability to use computer and standard software at basic level. Desirable Qualifications • Member of a professional body or similar • Excel • Word 6. Experience • Relevant experience in commercial vehicle repair and maintenance • Strong technical/maintenance background • Strong communication and leadership skills • Strong organisation skills/time management
