Carbon60 are currently working alongside a unique company based in Abingdon that specialise in the design, manufacture, installation and service of special purpose machinery. The business is looking to recruit an experienced Service and Commissioning Engineer due to continued growth of the business.


What make this business unique is the equipment used within the special purpose machines, all there machines incorporate laser and fibre optic technology to be able to perform complex and intricate tasks which are used in a wide variety of industry sectors.


This position will involve the commissioning of new machines (both in the workshop and on site) as well as performing service activities when required. the bulk of this role will be based on site at the Abingdon facility but travel will be required on an ad hoc basis both in the UK and very occasionally Europe.


Role Responsibilities:


  • Commissioning and delivering bespoke machines to new designs.
  • Working closely with all specialisms within the engineering team, managing the final stages of machine completion to FAT and SAT.
  • Fault finding, debugging and problem solving are a significant part of this role, drawing on appropriate engineering disciplines to create fixes quickly and efficiently
  • Electrical safety tests and build quality checks prior to machines entering commissioning.
  • Tracing though signals both electrically and PLC to find and fix the source of machine faults.
  • Documenting changes during commissioning
  • Long term testing of the machine and process.
  • Data collection and maintaining fault records
  • Respond to machine faults and service visits for existing customers.



Experience Required:


  • Experience within a multi skilled role (Mechanical, Electrical, Automation)
  • Knowledge of PLC, Pneumatics, Motion Systems, Servo Drives or Robotics.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and make rectifications.
  • Knowledge/experience of laser systems is beneficial.
  • Ability to travel UK wide when needed.
