Job Title: School Chef
Location: Gainsborough
MILK Education are currently working with an Independent SEMH School in Gainsborough who are seeking to appoint a School Chef to work on a full-time basis starting as soon as possible. The role will be on-going throughout the full academic year, Monday-Friday 8:00am-3:30pm.
We are looking for candidates who have previous experience working as a School Chef for a minimum of 3 years and have a good educational background.
School Chef Non-Negotiables:
- Culinary Expertise: Proven experience in large-scale food preparation, with a focus on nutrition and healthy meal planning for children.
- Food Safety Certification: Must possess relevant food safety and sanitation certifications (e.g., ServSafe or equivalent).
- Menu Development Skills: Ability to create diverse, balanced menus that cater to various dietary needs and preferences, including allergies and cultural considerations.
- Budget Management: Experience in managing food costs and minimizing waste while maintaining quality.
- Team Collaboration: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
- Passion for Education: Commitment to promoting healthy eating habits and engaging with students about nutrition.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust menus and meal plans based on seasonal availability and changing dietary trends.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with state and federal nutrition guidelines for school meals.
School Chef Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals for students.
- Oversee kitchen operations and ensure cleanliness.
- Collaborate with school staff to accommodate special dietary needs.
- Educate students about healthy eating practices.
