Job Title: Aerodynamics - Industrial Placement Reports To: Principal Aerodynamicist Department: Aerodynamics About the Department: The Aerodynamics Department plays a critical role in developing innovative solutions that enhance the performance of our Formula 1 car. A large variety of high-level skills are essential to guarantee the best possible results though each step of the aerodynamic development from inception to final product. Such skills are creativity, ingenuity, organization, analytical skills, attention to detail, people and process management. Role Overview: As an Aerodynamics Industrial Placement, you will be at the heart of our Aerodynamics team, where you’ll play a critical role in contributing to the aerodynamic development of the car through creativity, teamwork and passion. This role offers a rare opportunity to be involved in the world of Formula 1 from an early stage in your career. The exposure to a large variety of tasks and responsibilities, not common in an early career job, gives the great opportunity of acquiring and expanding skills that not only help the personal growth but will be key in future career steps. Your Responsibilities: As an Aerodynamics Industrial Placement at Williams, your main responsibilities will include: • Idea generation • CAD design • CFD analysis • Data analysis and report generation • Wind tunnel shifts • Interaction with other aero development teams, including model design and wind tunnel engineers, model-shop etc. Preferred Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will have: • Currently pursuing a degree in Aerospace or Motorsport Engineering, with a strong foundation in aerodynamics. • Experience in motorsport, either through internships or personal projects (highly desirable). • Proficiency in CAD software and data analysis tools. • Experience with CFD software and its application in engineering. • Good understanding of race car aerodynamics and technical regulations. • Familiarity with WT (Wind Tunnel) testing facilities. • Strong creativity and problem-solving abilities. • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. • Accountability and ownership of tasks.
