Planning Officer

Location: Hybrid working (mix of home, office, and onsite visits) Department: Area Planning Team Are you passionate about shaping urban landscapes and driving sustainable development? Harrow Council is looking for a dynamic and motivated Planning Officer to join our Area Planning Team. In this hybrid role, you'll have the flexibility to work from home and the office, while also conducting onsite visits across the borough. What You’ll Do: Manage Planning Applications: Review, process, and assess planning applications in line with local and national guidelines. Conduct Site Visits: Evaluate planning proposals firsthand and engage with stakeholders such as developers and residents. Provide Expert Advice: Offer professional planning guidance to internal teams, external clients, and decision-makers. Prepare Reports: Compile clear, concise reports and make recommendations on planning matters. Contribute to Sustainable Growth: Ensure all decisions align with Harrow Council’s vision for long-term, sustainable development. What You’ll Need: RTPI-accredited degree (evidence required) Valid driving licence (DVLA check required) Experience in planning, development control, or a related field is preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills Willingness to drive a council vehicle for site visits This is an excellent opportunity to bring your planning expertise to the forefront and make a positive impact on Harrow’s future.
