We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join this leading global Energy company.


This is an exciting time to be joining this world-leading company as they transform themselves from a traditional Oil & Gas company into a leading name within the Renewables sector. This includes the creation of an already highly successful new Power Trading desk within the Energy Trading team as well as new ventures into various innovative solutions around the supply of Renewables including wind farms, electric vehicle charging, solar panel heating and battery storage. These innovative solutions provide opportunities for exceptionally highly talented individuals to contribute to the success of this transition where you will be working with some of the best people in the industry working on new and ground-breaking initiatives utilising the very latest technology.


The organisation requires a Senior PM to lead Planning and Scheduling for the organisation's Supply and Commercial operations. This is a global project and still within the discovery phase.


Roles and Responsibilities:


• Agree and deliver programmes, projects and workstreams to agreed time, cost, quality, risk and benefit, within the organisation's standards and controls framework.

• Proactively analyse variances against plan and trends threatening agreed scope, time, cost, and quality commitments. Identify where a project may be at risk and take appropriate action.

• Engage internal and external stakeholders e.g. users/customers/suppliers to benefit from the delivered products, services and changes.

• Develop and execute appropriate change and engagement plans to achieve necessary behaviour changes and maximise benefits.

• Align expectations and ensure that stakeholders decisions are a timely and effective.

• Mobilise and lead teams with a mixture of staff and suppliers across organisational boundaries and the natural team.

• Ensure they have the necessary skills, capacity and experience to achieve the required outcomes.

• Develop the skills of team members through coaching, delegation and providing stretching assignments.

• Understand, assess and embed the right delivery methodologies, considering project and business constraints.

• Assess programme risks and evaluate trade-offs between cost, time, quality, risk and benefit, managing the business cases of your projects and workstreams.

• Ensure all deliverables are fit for purpose, meet all relevant requirements and are effectively transitioned to support and business-as-usual.

• Ensure that the business value intended by the work is explicit, agreed and delivered.


Mandatory skills:


• Program and project delivery up to $10m budget & Teams up to 50. Agile & waterfall methodology.

• Domain knowledge e.g. Chemicals, Deepwater, Retail, Finance, Legal, HR. Cloud, mobile, SAS, and digital. leadership, communication and resilience. stakeholder management, and enabling value creation.


Optional skills:


• Business-value mindset, critical thinking, storytelling

• Portfolio: Downstream & Renewables, Trading & Supply/TS - Crude & Products/TS - Commercial Ops & Supply/TS - LCF, Commercial Ops & Supply Investments Program


Planning and Scheduling Description:


• 70-80% of activities are manual copy-pasting of data from/to multiple Excel spreadsheets and numerous emails 80% of activities are standardized and automated.

• Data are only captured once and, after validation, easily accessible from a single repository.

• The last 20% are complex deals and profitable opportunities requiring focus and expert intervention.

• Significant amount of communication via phone and email with counterpart.


This needs combining with a positive attitude and an ability to work within a large, globally dispersed project team in a multi-cultural environment. You also need to be a self-starter, a logical thinker and a quick learner, with strong initiative and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, able to write clearly and concisely.
