Development and training. Due to continued growth, Davies are looking for an experienced engineer/ scientist to expand our Forensic Collision Investigations department, GBB. As a Forensic Collision Investigator and Court expert you will be expected to consider documentation and instructions from the relevant Principal, undertake forensic examination of vehicles or carry out a paper/desktop analysis to produce high-quality, scientifically accurate and independent technical reports. Part of your responsibilities will include management of files, joint statements and CPR Part 35 questions in accordance with company policy; liaise with external agencies; and to attend court or conference with counsel when required. A level 6 qualification (degree) in science or engineering-based subject is desirable but those with equivalent practical experience are also encouraged to apply as there are opportunities for training and development for the right candidate. Above all you must have outstanding communication skills, be self-motivated and well-disciplined, hold a valid driving licence and be confident with working autonomously. What will your day look like: Working as part of a small team the role involves investigating and verifying road traffic accident claims and producing Court compliant reports. Investigations will typically involve: Travel to and from site to conduct vehicle examinations and photography (training provided) Downloading and analysing vehicle data (training provided) Consider findings alongside other information sources to consider the compatibility of vehicle damage against scene and witness evidence Prepare impartial, technically accurate reports for use in pre- and post-litigation. Be an expert witness for the court and attend meetings with lawyers and equivalent subject experts (training provided). We receive instructions from solicitors, insurance companies, manufacturers and the general public. The role is customer facing with frequent meetings and discussions with clients and barristers. Abilities And Knowledge: The role will be open to individuals who either demonstrate the qualifications and ability to carry out the role with the appropriate training, or to those who already have the necessary experience to satisfy the requirements. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an engineering or physics-based subject or demonstration of equivalent practical experience: for example: police vehicle examiner/ accident investigator.
