Lead Generative AI Engineer - An opportunity to shape the direction of fast-moving start-up
Location: Oxfordshire - Hybrid working and flexible hours
Salary: Base Salary plus equity - Depending on experience but above market rate
A UK-based deep tech start-up is searching for a Lead Generative AI Engineer to spearhead the development of innovative AI systems. With at least 5+ years of experience in NLP/Generative AI, this role focuses on leading technical teams, scaling AI systems, and staying on the cutting edge of AI advancements. Ideal candidates will have a PhD, MS, or BS in Computer Science or a related field, strong hands-on experience with LLMs, and must hold or be eligible for Security Clearance (SC).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team to develop and deploy LLM-based AI systems.
- Design scalable AI systems, algorithms, and data pipelines for commercial applications.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends in NLP and Generative AI research.
- Deploy AI models into production environments, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with LLMs and NLP solutions (both pre- and post-production).
- Experience in leading teams and managing projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven expertise in deploying LLMs for searching pipelines and NLP techniques.
- Python programming, full-stack development, GIT, Docker, and AWS/Cloud experience.
- Strong understanding of ML pipelines and data engineering best practices.
- Ability to collaborate across teams, maintain security protocols, and present research in high-stakes environments.
Preferred:
- Experience in start-up environments.
- Strong portfolio showcasing work in AI and robotics.
- MLOps experience and familiarity with Agile product development.
