This is more than just another job; it’s an opportunity to be a part of the core leadership team, shape the direction of the product, and build something entirely new from the ground up.About the RoleWe’re looking for a visionary Head of Engineering (Director or VP, depending on experience) to lead their technology efforts. This is one of the first and most critical hires on the founding team, as technology will drive every aspect of the business—from the use of AI/ML to ethical data handling.In this pivotal role, you’ll define the tech strategy, develop the roadmap, and hire and lead a world-class team of engineers. You’ll work closely with the founders, a top-notch researcher, product designers, and world-class data scientists to bring the vision to life. Reporting directly to the Chief Product & Technology Officer and Co-founders, you’ll play a major role in all key decisions and have the autonomy to shape the entire tech stack and development process.What You’ll DoLead Tech Strategy & Vision: Translate the business goals into a cutting-edge tech strategy. You’ll make key decisions on architecture, technology choices, and investments to ensure they build a product that delights customers and scales efficiently.Build & Lead a High-Performing Team: Hire and lead a diverse team of engineers to develop the product from scratch. You’ll create a positive, collaborative environment that emphasizes excellence and efficiency.Set Best Practices: Implement development best practices and methodologies to drive efficiency. You’ll lead the charge in a test-and-learn approach, balancing speed to market with scalability and platform stability.Collaborate with Data Science: Work closely with the data science team to ensure seamless integration of AI/ML models and decision-making across the tech stack.Drive Impact: Be the technical voice at the leadership table, ensuring the right solutions are delivered while navigating complexity and ambiguity.What We’re Looking For Strong technical background, with experience in both hands-on roles and engineering leadership.Proven ability to build and scale consumer-facing products, ideally in multiple geographies.Demonstrated success in leading high-performing teams and making key engineering decisions.Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Experience with cloud-based platforms like GCP or AWS, and a deep understanding of data privacy and security.Collaborative mindset, with experience partnering with data science teams.Our client offers a very competitive package consisting of a base between £140-160k P/A depending on experience as well as the opportunity to join their EMI scheme plus other benefits.
